We’re excited to kick off a New Year with this whimsical urban wedding, captured by Christina Laing Photography. From the bright color palette, to the couple’s fresh modern style, we’re completely inspired by this couple and their passion for their city.

Bernice and Jason met at a local coffee shop and have spent the past three years buying and rehabbing vacant homes throughout Buffalo. When it came time to plan their wedding, they chose a unique venue in their beloved city that is experiencing its own revival to host the biggest dance party of their lives. The couple’s whimsical style transformed the stark urban setting and brought new life to the space.

From the bride, “We met in 2011 and instantly fell in love…the rest is history. Together, we have become best friends and work partners. We live, work and play in Buffalo. We live for rehabbing buildings, preservation projects…and a good dance party!”

Bernice and Jason were the first couple to be married at Silo City, a cluster of abandoned grain elevators along the Buffalo River, just off of Lake Erie. Built in the late 19th, early 20th century, these elevators are a key component in Buffalo’s industrial heritage. Abandoned in the late 20th century, these rust-belt ruins have sat abandoned and neglected. They were recently purchased and have since been the art and music hub of Buffalo.

The ceremony took place along the river and the couple said their vows surrounded by friends and family gathered on the ruins. Utilizing the talents of over 25 local vendors and catered by Buffalo’s most beloved food truck, Lloyd’s Tacos, the reception took place inside the American Warehouse. Guests danced the night away surrounded by crumbling brick and graffiti-filled walls.

Bernice and Jason have spent the past 6 months filming their own series, “American Rehab” about their company, Buffalove Development, for the HGTV network, premiering this Spring!
