A Taco Twosday Birthday Fiesta

A Taco Twosday Birthday Fiesta

Nothing beats the crunchy, often-spicy deliciousness of a good taco.  You’re probably a big fan of Taco Tuesday, your weekly excuse to binge on your favorite Mexican food of choice. Why not celebrate your child’s second birthday around this theme? A Taco Twosday birthday fiesta features not only a great taco bar, but decor, games, and party favors that make this the best kid’s birthday around. This lovely couple embraced the Taco Twosday theme for their own son, Avery James, and even handed out fiesta-inspired invitations. You’ll get super inspired by this great birthday party decor.

Of course, a great game for any birthday party is a piñata. Fill it with candy and little toys. You could even have a separate piñata for the adults filled with mini bottles of tequila. No kids allowed!

The couple chose soft, light colors for their Taco Twosday birthday party theme, skipping the bright primary colors of most second birthdays. The subtle white craft banner and cactus plants make for lovely additions to the theme.

Pastel colors are a must. Cover an accent wall with pastel orange, blue, and green streamers. Use this gorgeous wall as a backdrop for a DIY photo booth.

Of course, this birthday party is special. In addition to desert-themed desserts, like cactus cookies, the parents put their two-year-old’s name on the sweet treats as well.

The couple decorated the food table with fruits native to the taco originating region, like papayas, mangoes, limes, and avocados.

Just because it’s a taco-centered party doesn’t mean you can’t serve other foods that go hand in hand with the theme. While still in the Mexican food theme, quesadillas provide a nice alternative. Leave one without chicken or other meats so vegetarian guests have an option.

Of course, it all comes down to the taco bar. The couple provided a range of toppings, including lettuce, black beans, pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream, and of course, hot sauce!

The cake colors matched perfectly with the pastel decor. It was three-tiered with Mexican embroidery and animal styled fondant. Florals, grapefruit, and lime graced each layer.

The parents went above and beyond by renting a petting zoo! All the kids enjoyed greeting the donkeys and petting the llamas.

At the end of the birthday party, guests got to take home fun party favors. Lime gummy candy filled clear goodie boxes; attached was a label that said, “Thanks for a good lime” and a mini sombrero. Guests also had the option to take home a green cactus glass cup.
