The NotWedding is a bridal show alternative in the form of a big, fake wedding. Dozens of hand-selected wedding vendors perform as they would at a real wedding for a room full of brides-to-be who serve as our “wedding guests”.

We are often asked how the event is so cohesive when there as so many different vendors showing off their work, and the answer lies in the inspiration board we provide to vendors and in the quality of talent we choose for the event.

Ashley Mchugh of Buzzy Craftery designs an inspiration board for each event which features a collection of graphic images and color swatches. Often the images are not even wedding related (in fact, one of our favorite inspiration board images was simply a sofa and gold mirror!), but they are a visual collection of colors, textures and designs that we give our vendors as a starting point. They then take this inspiration and run with it, choosing a dress or baking a cake or designing a bouquet that fits the theme.

It’s always such a treat to show up on the (Not)Wedding Day and to see the vendors’ personalities shining through in their work but also melding into a cohesive event.

Below are a few photos showing how different vendors brought the board to life at the 2013 NotWedding in Atlanta.
