One Thousand Brides Speak

Kate Aspen samples 1000 bride responses to their survey - and the insight is fascinating!

Seriously! 1k, two times five hundred, 1,000 beautiful, eloquent, Kate Aspen brides.

We gathered some delicious information from brides that entered our Wedding Full of Favors contest since the first of this year (we thought that a thousand was a nice, round number!)

We gave them ten favor categories, and asked them which one would they most likely choose for their wedding favors. The winner? Well, it was actually quite close among all ten – but here are the top three (they won by a squeak!)

#1 – Favor Boxes and Containers

#2 – Candles

#3 – Wine/Bar Accessories

If you’re interested in how many they’re inviting to the ceremony and how much they plan to spend:

  • 38% plan to have more than 150 guests. Another 36% plan on at least 100-149 family and friends in attendance. Big weddings are still in vogue! And why not? It’s the most important day of your lives – let’s get a big celebration going!
  • 54% plan to spend less than $10,000 on their wedding celebration. Another 35% plan to spend between $10-20,000.

We also asked them to tell us a little bit about their wedding day plans. We’ll share a few of our favorites:

“My fiance and I are actually getting married in Mexico in Jan 2011 and having a June 2011 reception. I love the look of white and green. White flowers with greenery, very clean and fresh. I figure I will have the best of both worlds, down in Mexico I will have bright tropical colors and in Minnesota I will go with very classic colors.”

“We are having a beach ceremony, but our reception is going to be at a banquet hall. I decided that it’s going to be a beach theme reception as well, so our colors are going to be sky blue and white.”

“We are getting married in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. So naturally it will be a beach themed wedding with sand, sea shells, tropical flowers and amazing Costa Rican foods. We are also having a reception here in Phoenix, AZ for those that could not attend the wedding. The theme for the reception here is going to be asian with red paper lanterns and hopefully a sushi chef.”

“The theme is party! We have confetti on our invitations, stations for the food, and the colors are fuschia and navy. Also, it’s in an old spanish style mansion so lots of candles and mirrors.”

“The colors of our wedding are based around one of my favorite flowers – peonies. Our colors will be pale pink and a rich, earthy taupe for a sophisticated feel with a touch of femininity.”

“Our colors are red and dark orange. A Hawaiian theme (we were going to get married in Hawaii but not all of our family could afford it so we picked our family over our dream wedding.) Simple, small but VERY CLASSY! Guys will be in khaki shorts and nice long sleeve collared shirts. Ladies will wear short summery dresses.”

“We’re going with a post WWII theme for fun. My wedding dress will be a swing/tea-style dress as will the bridesmaid’s.”

“My theme is based on lanterns. We will be marrying in a forest linen field, and I so want to use your mini lanterns for our guest favors. The rustic feeling of the October outdoors, along with the 30′ stone fireplace in our reception hall will truly complete this theme. The mini lanterns will double as escort cards, and will light the way to our guest tables.”

“Our reception is at The Outing Club in Davenport, Iowa–a colonial mansion with a distinct impression of the jazz age. We are mixing some of those ideas…very romantic with a Gatsby edge, and some clean, modern lines.”

And of course, we can’t close without a word from our wonderful “fan brides!”

My husband-to-be and I are extremely proud University of Florida alumni! We will be incorporating the Florida Gators in every way possible (short of getting hitched in the stadium). We met and fell in love on campus – so, of course, we’ll be getting married in the campus chapel!

BLACK AND GOLD!!! I have not decided on my accent color yet, but we are going with Fleur De Lis everywhere as part of our theme because we are true, die hard NEW ORLEANS SAINTS FANS!!!

So many lovely ideas! So many different personalities! Yes, our Kate Aspen brides-to-be are simply fascinating!
